Shift Differential Premiums

WorkSight FLOW allows you to easily set up a rule that will automatically apply additional compensation for your employees who work Afternoon and Graveyard shifts or for specific times of the day. 

Apply a Shift Differential Premium for certain shift types 

To set up a basic Shift Differential Premium rule in WorkSight FLOW, applying a premium for every hour that the employees works Graveyard or Afternoons, you will want to add a new row in the Timecard Rules > Premium Rules table that specifies all the shift types that are eligible to receive the premium in the ‘Shift Type’ field, and select the ‘Apply To’ function of hourForHour. 

When complete, the row in the Premium Rules table should look like this:

Example of a Shift Type Based Shift Differential Premium in a Timecard: 

Note that the premium is paid for all hours worked 

Apply a Shift Differential Premium for specific time ranges 

To set up a basic Shift Differential Premium rule in WorkSight FLOW, applying a premium for all employees who perform work between a specific time, you will want to add a new row in the Timecard Rules > Premium Rules table with the ‘Apply To’ function of hoursBetween that specifies the time range. 

When complete, the row in the Premium Rules table should look like this:

Example of a Time Range Based Shift Differential Premium in a Timecard: 

Note that the premium is only paid for the hours worked between 8pm and 4am
